I had to cut it short again today.  I think I may have overdone it on the machines.  That's what Magnum said anyway.  He said I shouldn't be doing them everyday.  Well, not the same ones everyday.  My legs were just kinda dead today, even when I was on the elliptical, which I TOTALLY love.  I'm seriously becoming addicted.  I felt like I was moving in slow motion for the whole hour, but I was pleasantly surprised to see my numbers weren't really that low.  I skipped the machines today, however, which makes me feel a bit like a slacker.  But, my left thigh is pretty sore today, and I didn't want to take a chance at hurting myself.

12/30/12

Cut the day a little short today.  I was woken up around 3am by a killer migraine.  I tried to wait it out, and didn't head to the gym at our usual 6am, but by 10am, I figured I'd better just suck it up and go.  I only cut the machines down, not my cardio, since Lord knows, I can't afford to miss out on one second of fat burning.

Hi, gang.  Sorry, I know I missed a few days of posts, but rest assured, I have NOT missed any days at the gym.

On Christmas Eve, I actually went to the gym twice.  I knew they were going to be closed on Christmas Day, so I wanted to get a little extra work done.  The first time I went, I had a 6am appointment with the personal trainer.  Unfortunately, I didn't record what I did because we were all over the gym.  She was showing me how to use the different machines and weights, as well as some cardio machine that I hadn't tried yet.  It's sort of a combination of a stepper and an elliptical.  It looked really hard, which is why I hadn't tried it on my own.  I was right, it's hard.  I haven't used it again since.  I have to work my way up to it, I think.  For now, I've been sticking to the elliptical.  I think I may be addicted to it.

Anyway, I was there with the trainer for an hour.  I wanted to stay for another hour to get my "real" workout in, but I also needed to get to Sam's Club right when they opened, so I left and went back around 10am.  I recorded that workout.

This day I added a couple of weight machines.  I don't know the "real" names of these machines, so I just made up my own.

I had both of these machines set at the lowest weight (I think it's 10 lbs?) since it was the first time I was using them.

I'm still trying to figure out how I want to do these totals.  It seems weird to do a "grand total" for every day since I've started.  I'm thinking I should do it week by week, or maybe even monthly totals.  In the meantime, I like seeing these big numbers. =)

I'm going to try and ignore the fact that the scale hasn't moved, despite my dedication to the gym.  I'm going to focus on the fact that I feel like a million bucks.  I never understood people who said they were "addicted" to exercise and going to the gym.  However, I gotta confess, I totally get it now.  I LOVE going to the gym.  God willing, that feeling will last.  I can't wait to get there in the morning.  When I leave an hour and a half later, I just want to go back in and do it all over again.  Since the trainer showed me how to use the machines, I've been adding some time to my workout, and plan to add more each day.  Magnum doesn't go every day, but on the days that he joins me, he works out about 30 minutes longer than I usually do.  Up until now, I would just sit and wait, but now I plan to use that extra half hour or so to use more machines.  I'm not quite ready to join him in the weight room, but soon I hope.  He keeps telling everyone who gets within earshot that I'm going to be bikini ready by summer.  Goof ball.

Welcome!

I decided to just go ahead and start a second blog dedicated to this journey toward a healthier me.  This way you won't have to suffer through the boring stuff when you're over at the other blog.  (You're welcome!)  I've decided to keep my ticker on both blogs, though, since I need to be held (publicly) accountable.

I'm not exactly sure how I want to set this up quite yet.  I know I want to track my exercise, as well as my weight loss.  So far, I've been recording my daily calories burned, distance and time.  I guess I'll start there for now, and play the rest by ear.

I've only belonged to the gym for 6 days now.  So far, this is what I've done:

12/15/12 Treadmill

(I feel like I need to explain these weird numbers.  This was the morning I joined the gym.  While I was getting the tour, and filling out the paperwork, Magnum went and started his workout.  [He joined about 2 weeks before me]  When I was finished "joining," I decided to jump right in and get on the treadmill.  However, I wasn't sure how much longer Magnum needed, so I set it for 30 minutes.  When the 30 minutes was up, he happened to wander over to check on me, and said he needed another 15-20 minutes, so I set the treadmill for another 15 minutes.  The treadmill automatically programs in a "cool down" period, which explains the weird number of minutes.  Also, it didn't occur to me that day to record the info on my phone, so I just tried to remember the actual numbers.  Yeah, well, my brain is too old for that!  The next day, I started making notations on my phone's notepad.  Magnum is "old school," and literally carries a little pad of paper with him to write his notes.)
